It was 1999 that I

started electronics

engineering in Kntu

university in Tehran

and after reading some

books about amplifier

design I decided to

make a amplifier for

myself. For pairing with

that amplifier I

contacted a dealer and

asked him about

loudspeakers and he

told me their speakers

price range was

between 150$ to 50k$

!!!!

I was shocked about

the prices of

speakers!!! What will

be heard from that

$50K speaker?!

It was the first step

toward the hifi world

and I decided to

research more about

audio.

It was 2001 that I

bought my first audio

system. After searching

the internet and

reading many reviews I

bought a NAD C541i,

NAD C350 and

Dynaudio Audience 82

with monster cables.

Oh my god, sound was

not good and I told to

my friend that my

300$ mobile (Siemens

SL45) mp3 player has

a better sound than my

3000$ hi-fi system!!!

Reading reviews,

testing components,

searching stores all

started to guide me

toward a better sound.

So far I have spent

more than 5 years

pursuing the

understanding of the

relation of better sound

to many parameters.

During my efforts,

magazines and many

reviews on web never

helped me and in many

cases they caused me

to move in a wrong

direction.

I spent many many

hours searching for

Meet Amir Akbari

Amir is in Iran. He has a very

popular blog there, HiFiwhich is

unfortunately for me written

mostly in Farsi. But some of the

posts are in English, and Amir and

I have talked off and on for a

couple of years now. Amir thinks

a lot about high-end audio and we

have similar misgivings about the

current sources of information

that audiophiles have access to.

So it wasn't long before the light

bulb went off and I started

working on trying to get Amir to

write for Spintricity.
